Even if you plant a pot of herbs it will cheer your heart. I nursed my parsley thru last winter and munch on it daily with my salad greens. When I w...Thank you for this post Mountain Dreamer. When I was young everyone in town had a small vegetable garden in their backyard. We bought our chickens and eggs from the egg lady at the edge of town and we bought freshly dug potatoes in 100 lb sacks from another farmer. My mother baked 3-4 loaves of bread every other week. I don't remember where we got our beef and other meats but hunting and fishing still supplied a small portion. We ate locally and seasonally, but we ate well. Now here I am more than a half century later and although there is a much grater selection of food, food just doesn't taste like food anymore. I thought it was just my old age and my taste buds were gone, but now, I am not so sure. I just finished reading The Omnivore's Dilemma.Paul (aka Sirocco)https://www.blogger.com/profile/01992871642568894162noreply@blogger.com
