Life on Echo

In the Great NorthWest one would not expect to find so much life. Logic dictates to fly south to enjoy the balmy breezes. . However in the distance across the frozen marsh are water fowl calling out to each other of perhaps warning the fish they are on the way. Today there are Canadian Geese and perhaps the white birds are Snow Geese. In the picture below you can see them circling to land on the open patches of water.
Prior to my trip to Echo Lake I was invaded by the rats with Antlers. Ok just one had antlers. At any rate I had plans to haul off the trash today. However the deer decided to graze the yard . All eleven of them. The most coveted Marley watched from the window . Whining in a high pitch that could only mean he wanted out for a chase. But 11 of them . Where does one start if one is a dog?

Echo Lake looking south. Clear water and ice slipping away in the warm March sun
I am always amazed at the clarity of the water. A beautiful sunny afternoon enjoying the sun and reflections on the lake. After the sun and fun Marley is ready to lie down for a snooze. He has a wonderful surprise this afternoon. His Mom is on the way!

Watching the snow melt....

Checking out the road. Watching the snow melt. Although it is March 24th , here in the snow belt there is still some snow laying in the neighborhood. Hopefully with a couple of sunny days things will dry out a bit.
The last foot . Not me, the snow. Waiting patiently for the sun to deal with the last 12 inches.
Snow covered Foothill Mountains peak through the trees.Once that larch greens out they will be more hidden. It was 50 degrees today. There is a nasty rumor that I live in an ice shelter year round. I have to set the record straight. It was so warm today one did not need a jacket whilst shoveling the snow. ( And the ice shelter is melting quickly)
My cute spruce hanging out in the woods. At some point we will see the ground again. Going back outside to watch the snow melt.

What makes you stronger

Life is very much like the ebb and flow of snow in the winter . It is a process. If you don't live in significant snow you may not be aware that snow is quite dynamic. It is not stationary at all . It changes from day to day with different characteristics according to new snow , temperature and wind. Living with snow is one more way to test your metal. Like many things in life, what does not kill you makes you stronger. Ernest Hemingway said it succinctly " The world breaks us all. Afterward some are stronger in the broken places."
Have you examined those mended places? Do you find them sturdy from wear?  Are they filled with hope for a better tomorrow?

exotic ice creature

Like an exotic sea creature , ice tentacles curl off the roof. These will be on their way soon.
