Balance

 Creston Goodness, the good earth
This is the time of year where a great deal of energy is spent on assessing just how slippery is it ?
We had quite a bit of snow and below freezing temperatures recently. Snow piled up and packed down on the roads converting to packed ice over time. Then we had the warm up the last few days with temperatures in the mid thirties. One can only imagine the results . Now all surfaces are flat , smooth and completely slippery with a thin layer of water . This is the event that levels the playing field . Not much you can do but put on your ice skates and go.

How is your balance this New Year ? Are you placing your energies in the forward gear and into something positive this year ?
Or are your eyes looking backward at projects that failed ? Relationships that have unresolved issues and drag you down? In this new beginning of a year is it time to cut the ties that strangle? I issue a challenge. Take stock of your actually feeling of well being the next time you are with family , friends or people you consider significant in your life. Do you feel well? can you breathe ? and are you relaxed? Do you feel the glow of love and support ? I am wanting your answer to be yes. If not you know what to do.
Flathead River

A walk along the Flathead River today. If it is sunny out you can usually bet the temperatures are cold. The more moderate weather brings clouds and the famous gray that is legend here in the Valley in the
Winter. So the choice seems to be cold and sunny or moderate and cloudy. About a week ago I woke from the sound of the rain on the roof with snow on the ground and this is January.
Snowy wilderness

After a busy day it is good to see the familiar last mile on the way home. Already the days are longer and the sky has more light at dusk and dawn . Often people do not like January so much , but really the darkest time is the three weeks before the Winter solstice in Early December. Perhaps it is good that we have the distraction of the Holidays to take our minds off the shortened days .
Ice up close and personal , ice cleats anyone ?
1/13/13 Post Script : Monday brings 48 degrees and warm winds . We now have a layer of water on the layer of packed ice. Thankfully all of the snow has finished crashing off the roof. Snow bombs on the roof unnerve the pups.
